Default Display ragged hierarchy in Excel Pivot Table - 12-07-2005 , 12:41 PM

I have a dimension in a cube with a ragged hierarchy - the "product
subcategory" level of the dimension has "Hide Member If" set to "Only child
with parent's name". This works great when I look at the dimension in the
Dimension editor or the Cube editor. But when I use the cube as a data
source for an Excel Pivot Table, the "product subcategory" always shows. How
can I hide the product subcategory in the Pivot Table if it is the same name
as the product category?

I should have mentioned that I'm using SQL Analysis Services 2003 and Office
2003 ... any help or direction to a better newsgroup would be appreciated -
thx.

Sql AS 2003 ? Must be 2005 or 2000...

I believe i tried it once....but perhaps I'm confusing this with another
front end.

Try microsoft.pulic.office.developer.wep.components

You have some connection settings ...perhaps this one

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...us/olapdmpr/pt
_keyco_2ik9.asp

You're right, it's AS 2000 ...

Thanks for the links. I've tried setting MDX COMPATIBILITY=2 but I now get
an error "Excel received data from the source database that could not all be
displayed ..." when I drill down. Getting closer... thanks.
