Default Disconnection - 09-15-2004 , 11:54 PM

Hi,

Recently, I often encounter my connection to Analysis
Manager failed. The error message is

"unable to connect to the registry on the server, or you
are not a member of the OLAP Administrators group on this
server"

Is there a way to rectify my problem?

Thank you.

Freger

A couple of resources:
0) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE UPGRADED THE SERVER TO SP3
1) This is talked about in the AS Operations Guide
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../anservog.mspx
as a common problem. It is kind of the "catch-all" error for when the system
cannot make a connection.
2) Are their others running DSO operations at the same time? Someone else
running AM at the same time? See KB814414
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;814414

By "often", do mean that sometimes you can connect and sometimes you cannot.
Is it on just one remote machine or on different remote machines?
Do you ever get it on the server itself?

Thank you, Dave

Often is it happens a few times a week and recently almost
every day. Two scenarios encountered by me.

a) can connect to enterprise manager but cannot connect to
analysis manager
b) cannot connect to enterprise manager and analysis
manager

To resolve a, I requested the server administrator to
restart the anlaysis manager

To resolve b, i restart the MSSQL Server OLAP services and
remote registry service for enterprise manager and restart
the analysis manager

It is on at least 3 remote machines.

I can't tell because the server is not resided in my
office. But I can ask the server administrator to check
the next time when it fails.
