Is there any other way to disable access to data for cube for a specified
date range other than Cube Roles.

First, you cannot apply security without roles.

Second, I understand this:
you want to restrict the user to a particular subset of date in your cube(?)
so you want to restrict the access of the time dimension to only particular
members, which can be done through roles + dimension security.
Then simply check the members you want to allow access (or disallow members
you don't want to provide any access)
