Default dimension processing - 08-02-2005 , 08:47 AM

Hi

A quick question on dimension processing.

I have a Virtual Dimension Called Current Week that is supposed to have only
7 members at any time. This dimension needs to be updated daily. Will the
incremental update on the shared dimension solve the problem or do I need to
rebuild the dimension.

thanks

Once you have processed a virtual dimension, it is automatically updated
when you process the base dimension.

Okay

Le me put it this way.

I have a Date Dimension that is based on a view. The Current Week is the
member property at the leaf level and hence it becomes my virtual dimension.

Once the Date Dimension is processed in the beginning ...is the Date
Dimension intelligent to know about the change to the current week and
display the current week members (in my Current Week virtual dimension)
without having to manually reprocess the Date Dimension.

cheers

You have to process the base dimension (what you call the Date Dimension).
You should not have to process the virtual dimension (Current Date virtual
dimension) except once to create it. When do an incremental update of the
Date Dimension it will automatically change its member properties, which
will also update the Current Week virtual dimension without any processing
being needed of Current Week.
