Default Dimension permission based on users - 05-13-2005 , 08:14 AM

Hello,

I need to restrict a dimension list based on the user.

Can this be done using cube/dim permissioning?
Is it necessary to place the user and the other dim attributes in the same
dim with the
user as the top attribute in the hierarchy?
Can I accomplish the same by making the user a member property of the other
attribute?

thanks in advance
Tarana

Hi Tarana

There are a number of ways you can do this. The method that I use is
dimension security.

You basically create a security cube and link it to your report cube via
virtual cubes

Two good articles on this subject can be found at
