Default different levels of granularity within a single virtual cube - 11-10-2003 , 07:43 AM

Is there a way to avoid expensive snowflake schema in a non-detailed
cube to solve different granularity levels?
For example - one cube contains monthly inventory levels for each SW
tool.
Another cube contains all the "check outs" and "check ins" for the SW
tools(till the minute level, with houndreds of thousands of events
daily)
I want to show the inventory level for any time level (in all levels
below single month, the inventory will be just the same as the month
level).
How can I avoid creating snowflake in the inventory cube to the time
minute level and still see both "tool used" and "inventory level" at
the same report?
