is there a setting in the AS server, where I can set a different value for
the "Safety Options Property" (to be used if the client didn't specify a
value?
Perhaps it can be specified somewhere in the registry...

I am sorry, but I've never heard of that property in Analysis Services.
There is something like that for ActiveX control downloads... is that what
you are referring to??

just search for "Safety Options Property" in the BOL index.
AS seems to pay attention to this property if you use UDF's.
