What does it need exactly to do this as far as Microsoft technologies are
concerned?

The very basic components are SQL server - EM / QA / AM / RS as far as I know.


For these level of complexity (initially with Excel Pivot Table/Chart, and
later with a special reporting tool)

1. A simple solution with only MDX programming

2. A medium complex one with one high level programming (which one would be
more suitable? VB?) . If so do I need Visual Studio/.NET framework etc?

3. A very complex one - that would have more than one programming language
if necessary(?)... Again, which are the mostly used/suitable languages, and
if needs anything like Visual Studio/.Net, and something else/more?
