Default Date ranges in Analysis Manager - 07-13-2004 , 11:47 AM

Hi,

Can users input a date range or limit elements that can be viewed
on/in a cube as they browse the data? Also can more than one person
browse the cube at the same time if the cube is on a global server
where many people have access.

Thanks,
Steve

1) Date Range --> Time is a dimension which means that you can choose values
in this dimension and then see the results according to this selection -
this isn't the same as date ranges it's more like date "codes" - you choose
2004, 2. quarter and see data for this period.

By the use of MDX you can make lots of date calculations in the cube which
helps you if you want to see accumulated per a given date in the year and
perhaps compared to the same date last year - there are different ways to
design this - I can help with the easy one - the more complicated one I
haven't used yet (making af periodicity dimension).

2) Of course - that's the purpose of the technology....what front end are
you using to display the data (you cannot use cube browser in Analysis to do
that)
