Default Data source Provider error when processing - 11-15-2004 , 08:58 PM

Hello,

When processing a particular cube, I get the following error:

Data source provider error: I/O error 2(error not found) detected during
write at offset 0x00000036950000 in file 'D:\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL\data\tempdb.mdf'.;HY000; Time:16/11/2004 1:41:03 PM

This cube was OK until a few hours ago, and started giving this error during
an overnight job. Other cubes can be processed (including cubes which use
the same views, dimensions, tables). (Some of these cubes were giving some
sort of connection error, but are OK now.) The only difference I can think
of is that this cube is bigger than the others. I have tried re-designing
the storage with fewer aggregations, but same result.

I will try re-starting the SQL server, but other than that I am at a loss.
Can anyone help? Even some idea of where to start looking for the problem
would help.

Thanks
Les

Hello again,

After re-starting the SQL server, the message has changed slighlty:

Data source provider error: Could not allocate space for object '(SYSTEM
table id: -76163232)' in database 'TEMPDB' because the 'DEFAULT' filegroup is
full.;42000; Time:16/11/2004 7:05:34 PM

I will also post this in a more admin-oriented SQL group - looks like a
database problem rather than an AS problem.

Thanks
Les

This has been answered in the sqlserver.server newsgroup (see thread called
"FileGoup is full error").
