Default Data Not Displayed on Browse Data - 06-21-2004 , 08:08 PM

Hi,

I am new to Microsoft AS. I am loading data from the Oracle 8x. I am able to create the dimensions and the cube using the editor. But after processing the cube I am not able to see any data. Its coming as blank.

I tried accessing the cube through Excel too..even that didn't work. I have tried this on Win XP Pro as well as Win 2000 Pro, no success.

I am able to access (browse) the data of the example cube, FoodMart 2000.

Can anyone help me here ?? I will be very thankful.

Thanks,
Amit

This type of problems occur when the fact table data is
not linked correctly with the members of the dimensions.
You will have to link each record in the fact table to a
default member in each dimension (if not linked already).
This will fix your problem and you will be able to browse
the data.

Hi Abhinav,

Thanks for responding to my question. I have checked the links, they
are fine. One more finding I would like to share:
While creating the data source, I selected ""MS OLEDB for ODBC"
instead of "MS OLEDB for Oracle", I was able to see the data in the
Win 2000 Pro setup. Unfortunately the same didn't work for Win Xp Pro.

For some managibility reasons, we want this application to run on Win
Xp Pro platform.

Can anyone suggest what may be wrong?

I have heard that even the way you have installed different components
required by this application, can cause Some issues. Someone who has
successfully deployed the MS-AS on the following configuration can
send me the steps can also be helpful.
-Win Xp Pro
-Office Xp
-Database Oracle 8x
-SQL Server 2000 with service pack 3
-Analysis Server

Thanks,
Amit
