Default Data missing in Year level - using AS 2005 - 08-24-2006 , 02:58 PM

Hi,
I have SSAS 2005 with SP1. I am having an issue with the Date
heirarchy when a Year level is on the Rows or Columns and I try to
filter by another dimension - sometimes I just get blanks.

For eample: My sales cube has a simple Dimension called OrderTypes
(joined directly to fact table). When I have the Year of my Date (year
- Qtr - Mon - Day)
heirarchy on the Rows and ShipQty as a measure, and I pull in the
OrderTypes dimension into the Page filter or even if I pull it in as a
nested row next to year.- The years disappear and I just get blanks
for ship qty..

This is not a problem if I just pull in lower levels Quarters , weeks
etc.. Also it
does not happen with every dimension filter in my cube.

Any ideas? I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks,
HaroldW

Hi,

I have the same issue in 1 cube.
at the year level, there is no results, at the month there is results.

I have not found any solution and this occurs in 1 cube only!!!

I had a similar problem when I defined two role-played time dimensions and
two user hierarchies for each time dimension, and year can be rolled up from
either quarter or week. I guess that the year level value can be rolled up
by two different level may cause confusion in this case. I removed the
relationship between year and week fixed the problem.

Update : I designed the aggregations again and the problem went away
(?). Do I always have to design the aggregations before rebuilding the
cube ?

Thanks,

Interesting. I wonder if you change the cube/dimenson structure and not
redesign the aggregations, the old aggregations may not apply and what kind
of side effect it will have ?
