Default Data with different Granularity - 07-09-2003 , 09:00 PM

I've had someone tell me that you can view data that goes to different
granularity in one cube if it is a virtual cube. Eg have Actual data
down to daily level and budget at a monthly level.

this doesn't make much sense to me but is it possible?

Cheers

Howard,

Where can I find these properties?

Thanks,

This is possible possible.

Also, if your Time dimension has days that rollup into
month, and the
dimension has the property "Member With Data" - "Non-leaf
data visible"
option turned on, you can then input data at a month
level.

You may also decide that you want your time dimension
split between year and
month but then you need to consider all the functionality
required for your
solution. For example, are you intending to do time
series analysis.

Emily

Sorry, let me clarify the input comment. When you specify the dimension
property detailed what happens is a new member gets created for all the
non-leaf members of the specific dimension. If you have a writeback client
that can update the cube then you can input to these data members of the
non-leaf members. The data members of non-leaf members are in fact leaf
members that rollup to the non-leaf members.

Hari

On a parent-child dimension find this on the advanced tab of the dimension
properties through the dimension editor.

What does your company do? I believe you are from the somewhere in the
Emirates?
