Default Data Analyzer Crashes - 03-01-2005 , 09:14 AM

Since Data Analyzer is a "fat" client, we will often have users connect to a
server using Remote Desktop and using Data Analyzer on the server to connect
to the SAME server (Win 2003 Server) running Analysis Services. When several
users connect at the same time and use the same installation of DA to connect
to the same cube on the same server (sorry for the repetitiveness), we get
this error:

Application popup: Max3.exe - Application Error : The instruction at
"0x6c371c65"
referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". Click on
OK to terminate the program

The above error seems to happen often sometimes...any suggestions as to what
may be the problem? Any fixes?

Thank You...

Don't have answer for you. But I will not recommened using this solution. You
should consider OWC pivot table to see this data into browser or to the least
in Excel.

If this is still of interest...

And, I'm no expert but...

We do something like this using Terminal Services.
Your problem may be due to using the same installation of DA (I assume
simultaneously). Office is configured to be used in the manner you seem to
be using. I doubt that DA is.

Therefore, you may need to make a separate installation for each user.
The installation may need to be made while they are logged in with the
application installed to a distinct folder: e.g.
...Program files\DA\DA_login1;
...Program files\DA\DA_login2;
...Program files\DA\DA_login3.
Then, place a link in each profile's desktop folder that points to their
specific EXE file.

Be sure to remove any link file on the "all users' desktop that the
installation process might deploy.

I'm not SURE this will work.

Good luck
