Default Dashboards, ProClarity, Q4Bis, Sharepoint, RS2005, etc.., etc... - 05-23-2006 , 05:24 PM

I am responsible from the technology side for driving forward business
intelligence, reporting and dashboards in our organization.

Any experience out there on the best way to proceed?

We are doing an ERP implementation (which apparently has some cubes of its
own) and currently have a home-grown Data Warehouse pulling from legacy
systems built in SSAS 2005 with SSRS 2005. Our vendor recommends Q4Bis but
with MS purchasing ProClarity we just don't know. We need a good model to
distribute information widely, beyond just the Finance department and analyst
community.

Perhaps we can accomplish what we need with just SSRS, SSAS, our home grown
cubes, the ERP's cubes and a bit of elbow grease?

its the first time I heard this product "Q4Bis"

There is a lot of product on the market for different prices, different
usage and capabilities

ProClarity is one of the best product on the market for analysis.
Take a look at Strategy Companion. this product is interesting (like some
others).

also There is tools more optimized for budgeting.
and there is webcontrols that you can include in your own application.

so create a which list of what you want to do.
Do you want an excel plugin?
Do you want to create budgets?
Do you want to open the access to a large community?

and finally...
What is your budget?

use OFFICE WEB COMPONENTS

they're cost effective, fast and flexible.

keep it exclusively SSAS; 2005 rocks!!

My opinion is not neutral as I am a reseller, but I suggest to give a
look to XLCubed (www.xlcubed.com), Excel add-in for MSSQL 2000/2005 and
Applix T1.
Much faster than MS office pivot table, much more features, enhanced
writeback logics (needed for budgeting and so), easy to use but very
powerful.
Web edition available, pure thin client with all Excel features.
When contacting XLCubed, ask for a pre-release of version 3, and, if
you want. please give this reference: DecisionWorks consulting, Italy.
Thanks,
SG
