Default cubes processing performance inconsistant - 12-29-2004 , 03:53 AM

Hi all
My cubes processing is acting strange..
Some times it is cool and than at times the same processing task my last for
ever...
There are no other activities on the cube's server that may interupt with
AS.
The server resource that is being sufocated is its cpu which reaches 100% .
I did not notice a memory bottle neck or the use of temporary files whiles
calculating aggregations.
I am using W2K server with 1G memory and AS+SQLserver standart edition
installed on it with sp3.
Cubes process is full each time (that's why i expect it to be similar).

I am looking for suggestions where to start looking ??
I need to understand where this inconsistancy comes from.

Thanks alot for your attention
Rea

Several tips:
1) AS Operations Guide
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../anservog.mspx
talks about several topis relevant here, e.g. how to enable the system-wide
processing log file. That way you can gather specific data points and not
deal from memory.
2) AS Performance Guide
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../ansvcspg.mspx
talks about how to optimize the processing steps themselves so you get
maximim throughput consistently, e.g. running the optimize schema tool
inside the cube editor.
