Default Cube migration - 08-22-2006 , 03:03 PM

Hello:
In SSAS 2005 I have 2 databases with several cubes in it. How can I migrate
a cube from one database to other ?

Thanks,
GB

Yes, simply use File / New Project and then select "Import Analysis
Services 9.0 Database" template.

I migrated 2000 cube to 2005. To make changes i opening database through BI
modify the cube and deploy it. It works fine, Is there anyway to open the
mirgrated cube as project and save. To make changes i can open the this
project and do changes. When i open the drill cube directly from database,
drill through is not working (known issue and I hope this will be fixed in
SP2)

Is there anyway to open as project and save it to locally.

Thanks

you can do a reverse eng.
create a new project "import as 9 database"
this allow you to import an SSAS2005 database and produce a disconnected
project

can you explain what is your drill through issue?
in SSAS 2005 the drill through is completely different from AS2000 and you
have to recreate it; the system can't migrate this for you.
so its a known issue without any automated solution, but its not a big job
to recreate the drill through.

jeje

Drillthroug issue, I created Drillthrough from Action New Drillthrough
option,
After i created and deployed to server. Next time when i open the database
from BI, i cann't see drill through, it shows object cann't connect to, i
have to create drillthrough each time when i open the database from BI,

I opened database directly from server through BI.

thanks
