Default Cube is invalid, Why? - 07-16-2004 , 11:54 AM

Hi all,
I'm quite new to OLAP and have one simple question for you. I created cube,
put two measures into it - one with SUM function and another with DISTINCT
COUNT. Data looked great untill I created custom rollup for one of the
dimension. Then I got following message trying to process cube:

the cube contains a distinct count measure,
and at least one of the enabled levels
in the dimensions used in this cube contains a custom rollup definition

Why is that? Is this the way it's supposed to work, or I was doing smth
wrong?

Thanks a lot in advance

Alex

You can't use Custom Rollups in a cube with a Distinct Count measure.
In fact, there are a lot of things you cannot do in a cube with a DC measure. A best practice is to use a separate cube for the DC measure.
If necessary, you can create a Virtual Cube to integrate the DC measure with other cubes.
