Default Cube Design - Number Max of Dimensions - 08-17-2006 , 03:47 AM

Hi all,

Some cubes into my project have been designed containing 11 dimensions
? Is there a number max of dimensions? The performances look fine so
far but I was wondering if it will be a good idea to split these cubes
to have a limited number of dimension per cube.

Thanks a lot for your support

do you use AS2000 or 2005?
with 11 in both product you are far away from the limit (256 in AS2000 I
think but not sure)

if you can reduce the number of dimension its because you can refocus your
business questions, which is good; the cube become more easier to use.
good to hear that the performance is good, but have you tested with
different levels and multiple leaf levels at the same time?

until you suffer performance issues, try to keep your cubes like you have
today.
there is multiple solution to performance issues until removing dimensions.
the first one will be the usage based optimization wizard.

so... wait and see...
