Default cube analysis for great plains v8 - 02-07-2006 , 04:01 AM

Hi, I have previously developed cubes for user created databases which has
involved dts processing. I am new to great plains (GP) and am required to
create olap cubes which will interface with Panorama (not Excel). The base
tables for GP are fairly encrypted so i dont know where to start. I am
guessing this is not such a straight forward excercise. We do have a license
for webhouse which i am assuming is a tool that is used to create cubes for
GP. Would anyone have any documentation pertaining to creating cubes for GP
via DTS /webhouse? Where exactly is the webhouse software ? is it on the GP
CD? GP is confusing me to no end as information is sparse.

Any help most appreciated!

cheers,
sarah

It depends what information you are seeking. The GP SDK has information on
the tables and posting data flows within each series, like Purchasing and
Sales. The Resource Descriptions within GP will give you table names and
column names.

Webhouse is a product from Accountable Software (www.accountable.com).
Microsoft licensed it and renamed it as Analysis Cubes for Excel. Accountable
sold a different front-end tool, ProClarity, for working with the cubes. What
you were buying with Webhouse and continue to buy with Analysis Cubes for
Excel are predefined OLAP cubes for various Great Plains series.

If you want to use a different front-end, the cubes will be there if you
have the license for Analysis Cubes for GP 8/9. You would connect your
front-end to those cubes.
