Default Cube Access for Reporting Services - 03-08-2005 , 11:09 PM

Reporting Services and Analysis Services are running on the same server.
Reports get invoked from a web based client tool.

How would the reporting services be connecting to the cube? I have set up
read permissions in the cube, but when we try the reports, it gives a
"permission denied" message.

The same problem has been resolved using COM+ in the thrid party client
tool that is being used. Is there something similar for Reporting Services?

thank you

In a similar scenario, what I found was that, with Analysis Services on
the same server as Reporting Services, the Windows Account of the user
was passed to Analysis Services. Of course, this may depend on RS
security settings for the Data Source, whose interaction with Analysis
Services I still haven't figured out. But if you check the Windows
Application Event Log on the server after getting the AS "Permission
Denied" message, you should see an AS Entry which includes details of
the denied account.
