Hi, I am afraid that based on my user requirements I may be going down a slippery slope of dimension drowning ![]() Here is the situation, Fact table: order-line On the fact table we have typical dimension style data like: Date/Item/Customer/Carrier/Salesman Now in the case of "Items", people may want to view data in terms of: Product Type Item Category Manufacturer Genre... These ways of looking at an items are unrelated in terms of heirarechies. So for items I already have 4 dimensions for ways at looking Item Data. For Customers I have 6 ways of looking at them. So basically I am creating a dimension for each type of view my users want. I am already at 19 dimensions. Is what I am doing correct? Any help/advise would be appreciated! Regards, |
