Default Create OLAP Report - 04-20-2011 , 10:20 PM

I would like to have my report running faster and to use OLAP.
I would like to know that does SQL server 2000 create temporary
tables
for us or programmer needs to create tables to store summary data for
report?
Are there any programming or stored procedures need to be done in
order to generate the reports using OLAP?
Your help is great appreciated,

Hello,

Are you really using SQL Server 2000 SSRS and SSAS? You will have
to create a data set against SSAS by writing MDX. I don't remember if
SSRS 2000 has an SSAS compatible IDE, for MDX generation. 2005 makes
this process a lot easier. I don't believe that you'll have to create
anything in the database for the report with an SSAS data source. I
highly recommend upgrading to 2008 for a much more stress-free
development cycle with SSAS and SSRS.

SSAS - SQL Server Analysis Services
SSRS - SQL Server Reporting Services
MDX - Multi-Dimensional eXpression - The query language used against
Analytics cubes.

As with the previous post, I would strongly recommend that you upgrade
to SQL Server 2008. If you are going to be using the Microsoft tools
for business intelligence and reporting you should upgrade to SQL
Server 2008 R2 (consider running SharePoint 2010 as well). SQL Server
2000 is an unsupported version and no longer suitable for production.
