Default CPU pegged on 64bit machine - 08-25-2003 , 11:28 AM






Hi all,
I'm running Analysis Services sp3 on a 64 bit machine. It's happened twice
that the CPU shoots up to 100% usage and doesn't come down with no users
logged on and no cubes being built. restart the service, it happens again.
Has anyone run into this? I've seen some threads on similar issues but our
environment doesn't match. -Thanks, Dave

Hi,

Have you looked with perfmon what is causing this, it could be wise to
contact PSS (MS Support) if this problem stays.

Do you have any changing dimensions?
What you are describing sounds like the lazy aggregator kicking in because
you have flex aggs and you've done an incremental process of a changing
dimension. In which case, the system must recalculate the flex aggs and it
does this via a background thread.
