You can copy a cube by archiving a copy of it to a .cab file. You can do
this by right clicking on the cube in Analysis manager.

thanks for the reply. i've done it within the my analysis server.

how about the possibility of totally copying the cube into another
computer that is not pointing on to the original database.

i just observed that the data source is still pointing to the original
source eventhough i copied it to another database. i guess i cannot
work with my cube once i copied it to another computer.

thanks,

Sure that will work.

If you have two servers registered in Analysis Manager then you can copy and
paste between the 2 servers. If you want to query the cube you will have to
modify the destination datasource to point at any datasource that has the
same schema as your original datasource once you've copied it...

You can do an Archive and Restore which will copy both the
metadata and data (though you may have to reprocess in
some cases).

What about the possiblity of creating a local cube for this purpose.

You could process your cube to a local cube(.cub) and then take that
cube file on the road with you. It will not require access to the
original Analysis Server.

Local cubes can be accessed in a number of ways. If you do not
currently have a tool to access local cubes The Bitz Inc company has created
a very powerful cube browsing tool IQub
Browser which allows for access to local cubes and analysis the
data contained within.

Hi,

We use a BI/OLAP software frontend with automatic producing a local
OLAP cube for use on laptops based on an enterprise MS AS 2000 OLAP
cube. Please visit our website and download your own trial copy.

Regards,
Marco

Mark,

What I meant was for you to do was to create a local offline
cube(.cub). If you would like to contact me directly I could run you
through the process of doing this.
