Do you have the same level of service pack on the client machine as on
the server? This can sometimes cause this issue.
Also you can check if the user can access the following UNC:
\\<Server name>\MSOlapRepository$
I have seen some situation where AD group policies remove rights to this
hidden share which meant that users could not administer the AS server
remotely.
