Default Conditional formatting without calculated cells? - 10-06-2005 , 08:54 AM

We are running MS SQL 2000 Standard Edition.

How do I integrate conditional formatting on measures?

I read that calculated cells is not an option on the standard edition.

Thanks

The 2 options that come to mind are:

- For AS 2000, you can wrap it in a calculated measure, but then
drillthrough on the measure won't be possible.

- Upgrade to AS 2005 Standard Edition (release date Nov.7), which
supposedly supports calculated cells:

In case of Analysis Services, you will immediattely see, that cell
calculations, that were only part of Enterprise Edition in AS2K, now are
available in all editions.

Another option is to do it will specially crafted custom member formulas, so
drillthrough etc will work, but it is likely to become messy. Probably
moving to AS2005 is the best option.

P.S. BTW, Nov 7 is a launch date, not a release date for AS2005

Hi Mosha,

Thanks for pointing out the Custom Member options for controlling cell
properties.

But I'm puzzled about the difference between launch and release date,
since these terms seem to be used interchangeably in the SQL Server
trade press, like:

business environment.

By now you should have realized the difference. The release date was
yesterday - and SQL Server 2005 is already available on MSDN - it is
released !
However, the launch will happen only on November 7 - week from now.

Thanks, Mosha - that was a pleasant surprise! Only caveat is that,
apparently, only Developer Edition is available at the moment - though
others should shortly follow?
