Default Client has OLAP connection problem - 10-02-2003 , 11:12 AM

Hi there,

I have a problem with connecting to the Microsoft SQL
Server 2000 Analysis Services via a client. However I have
no problem connecting to the Analysis Server directly on
the server itself. When I try to connect via the client I
get the following message:
"Path not found"

However I can access "Edit Repository Connection String"
which means my client can see the server and even access
it to some degree.

I recently migrated the repository to a local SQL2k. I
think the problem started after the migration.

!!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!!

Thanks in advance,
Annick van den Broek

Hi Annick,

Could you please do this test for me go to the command prompt on the XP
client where you see this error from and try to make the following
connection:

net use \\yourASservername\MsOLAPRepository$

Does this command complete succesfully?

If not is this share available set to the program files\Microsoft analysis
services\bin directory on the AS server, does this user have acces to this
share etc? Is netbios working?

HTH,
Bas

Hi Bas,

Thanks for you're reply. The problem is solved.
Somehow .. ?? .. the share MsOLAPRepository$ was removed.
I reinstalled the share. Gave OLAP Administrators access
to it .. and voila it works. However can't figure out how
the share got removed.

Thanks for you're help,
