Default Client error "Path not found" connecting to AS - 06-15-2004 , 07:14 AM

I read a previous post where the suggested fix was to check the MsOLAPRepository$ share. However, our Analysis server has its repository stored in an SQL Server database.
I have verified that the client has access to this Repository database.

Any idea why it is getting "Path not found" when trying to connect to the Analysis Services server?

Trying to connect from the Analysis Manager to a remote Analysis server.
Using Windows XP, SQL Server 2000 SP3, server running Windows 2000.

Problem fixed: it was due to "Microsoft Network Client" missing in the LAN Connections properties on the client PC.
Still, not sure why this was an issue as the client shouldn't have to connect to a shared directory on the server.
