Default Changing date member names in MDX - 04-01-2004 , 10:05 AM

Hello -

I have a paid date that I am using in my cube. I need to
display the member name as Jan-02 instead of drilling down
through 2002 and then January, February etc.

I read Tom Chester's article on Time Dimensions and
realize that I need to redefine my date fields as standard
dimensions for more flexibility. But I have been unable
to change the member name of the date successfully. Any
suggestions?

My date fields are mixed together with all other fields on
my fact table. This cannot be changed and I cannot create
any views.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

I'd recommend that you either create a view to produce a field for the name
that represents the name you want displayed for the member. You can then
source the dimension from that view and use that field as the member name
column source.
