Default Change name for OLAP Server - 10-14-2003 , 05:17 AM

hi there
I have installed an OLAP Server and after some configurations I change the
name of the server
on my machine (other than the server) I register the server with the first
name
after new name was applied if i try to register the OLAP server i'm prompted
with this error

---------------------------
Connection to Server Failed
---------------------------
Errors occurred while connecting to [NEWservername].
Cannot connect to the repository.

Analysis server: [NEWservername]

Error:
'\\[OLDservername]\MsOLAPRepository$\msmdrep.mdb' is not a valid path. Make
sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to
the server on which the file resides.
Do you still want to register this server?
---------------------------
Yes No
---------------------------

can someone help me with this?

thanks in advance for your help

Valentin,
in Analysis Server, right click on your server and edit
your connection string to match the new name. That should
do the trick.

hi Lutz

the problem is that i cannot register the server anymore
scenario:
open analysis manager (mmc)
expand analysis servers under console root
(i can see the local server)
right click on analysis servers then register server...
now i'm propted to write the name of the server computer to be administrated
i write in the new name of the server (the correct one)
and now i'm propted that check if the path \\oldname\msolap... is correct

thanks for your time
