Default Cell Actions - 12-23-2003 , 10:42 AM

Just a general question, is it possible to create cell actions that
only apply to a subset of the cells in a cube?

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your post. As I understand, you want to create actions that only
apply to a subset of the cells in a cube. If I have misunderstood, please
feel free to let me know. What do you mean by "subset of the cells"? Based
on my research, Target help we select the object to which the action is
attached. Generally, in client applications, the action is displayed when
end users select the target object. You can define the target object via
dimension or level. They will help you focus the object. Does it meet your
requirements?

My question is specific to cell actions only. Is it possible to
define a cell action that would be in effect for one cell in the cube
but not another? Or does a cell action apply to all cells in the cube?

I realize that you can effectively "subset" a cube by defining actions
that only apply to certain objects such as levels, dimensions, or
members. But this is not the type of granularity that I am
investigating.

Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your feedback. So far as I know, unfortunately, I am afraid that
we are unable to create such an action on a specific cell. In other words,
the target object cannot be focused on the "subset" of all the cells in a
cube. Only cells in a cube can be regarded as the target object of an
action.

However, it is a great idea to have such expand feature for OLAP, I'd
recommend that you forward the recommendation to the Microsoft Wish Program:
