Default Can't see calculated (non-measure) member in Excel Pivot Table - 11-18-2004 , 10:35 AM

This problem relates to the following KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=h...e%3D259587#kb4

I am experiencing this problem from one AS Server that happens to have Excel
2000 installed on it, even from PC clients with Excel XP installed.
In another configuration I have an AS Server without Excel installed on it
and pivot tables are able to see calculated dimension members from the same
PC as the first case.

My suspiction is that having excel 2000 installed on the server registers
some libraries that cause this to happen regardless of the client's
platform. I am looking for

1) Some (technical) validation of this theory
2) A workaround as upgrading to excel xp on this server is not presently an
option.
