Default Can't deploy AdventureWorksDW cube - 02-03-2006 , 05:19 AM

I have the release versions of VS 2005 and SQL Server 2005 (Developer
Edition) installed. I've installed the SQL Server samples files, including
the AdventureWorks DBs, per the HELP instructions on the SQL Server
installation disk. I then start up the sample solution at .../Program
Files/Microsoft SQL Server/90/Tools/Samples/AdventureWorks Analysis Services
Project/Enterprise/Adventure Works.sln . The project comes up just fine.
However, when I Deploy the project, I get the following errors:

Warning 1 Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The attribute key cannot be
found: Table: dbo_DimCustomer, Column: AddressLine1, Value: 8011 Mcnutt Ave.
Warning 2 Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The record was skipped because
the attribute key was not found. Attribute: Dim Customer of Dimension: Dim
Customer from Database: Internet Sales, Record: 1024.
Error 3 Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The process operation ended
because the number of errors encountered during processing reached the
defined limit of allowable errors for the operation.
Error 4 Errors in the OLAP storage engine: An error occurred while the 'Dim
Customer' attribute of the 'Dim Customer' dimension from the 'Internet Sales'
database was being processed.
Error 5 Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The process operation ended
because the number of errors encountered during processing reached the
defined limit of allowable errors for the operation.

The errors appear to be related to one record in the DimCustomer file
(Customer Key # 12022 for Jose Wright, with the address indicated in the
first warning above).

I similarly tried an example for a cube in the book "Pro SQL Server 2005" by
Thomas Rizzo, et. al. , and when I deployed it I got exactly the same errors.

I've tried reinstalling the sample DBs, but got exactly the same results.

Any suggestions on how to get this to work? And what is an "attribute key"?
Thanks.

Hello Ed,

This error means that a value was found a column in the fact table that was
not found in the corresponding column in the dimension table. You can
choose to ignore this error via the ErrorConfiguration property on the cube
or by going to the Dimensions key errors tab of the Change Settings dialog
from the Processing dialog.
