Default Can't create data source as part of AS Tutorial - 01-25-2006 , 12:08 PM

I've installed SQL 2005, including Analysis Services, the sample databases,
and the tutorials. My machine already had VS2003 & VS2005, if that's of any
relation. From the samples, I was able to open and deploy the AdventureWorks
solution. I can see in Management Studio that I now have the Adventure Works
DW database, with its cubes, dimensions, etc.

I'm following the instructions per
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms167105.aspx, and I cannot click
the 'Finish' button in the wizard. It simply puts the focus back into the
Name field. Doesn't matter what I type in the Name field, the wizard won't
complete. I also cannot get a list of databases when using the suggested
provider of Native OLE DB\Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server. I can
get a list of database using the Native OLE DB\SQL Native Client provider and
the .Net Providers\SqlClient Data Provider. Both work fine when clicking
'Test Connection'. None of the options help with clicking the Finish button
at the end of the wizard.

Default RE: Can't create data source as part of AS Tutorial - 01-27-2006 , 09:46 AM

I created the DataSource from another machine and tried to continue the
tutorial. Now, in the Cube Wizard, I get another error. I have now
installed BI Dev Studio on three different machines, and I get a whole
collection of different errors on different machines. Does this software
even really work?
