Default Cannot start Olap services on a Windows 2003 Server! - 12-23-2004 , 07:49 AM

Help!

I installed MS Olap Services on a Windows 2003 server. After the install, I
am unable to start the service. The eventlog has an entry,
"The MSSQLServerOLAPService service failed to start due to the following
error:
MSSQLServerOLAPService is not a valid Win32 application.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp."

However, the SQLServer is up and running.

SOS!

Cymryr:

I have!

This may have something to do with another symptom I have observed with
three other applications, including Java SDK

I had installed these two applications installed on "D:\Program Files" but I
got the same error messages in the events log that said they were not win32
applications.

But when I uninstalled and reinstalled in the primary partition, "C:\program
files\" they were happy.

I am going to try to do this and will let you know if my hunch is correct.

Thanks.

Cymryr:

Guess what? My gut feel was right! When I chose to install it on the primary
partition, "c:\progrma files\", it works fine!

May be I should post a message on the Windows Server 2003 forum why this is
the case!

Thanks.
