Hi MS-OLAP-Newsgroup

About once every several weeks we get the following
connection error (below) on our NT4 / SQL Server 7.0 SP3
OLAP server for what seems to be no reason whatsoever. I
have checked a variety of NT/SQL logs, KB's, support
sites, etc for more info but to no avail.

Step Error Source: DSO
Step Error Description:Cannot open connection to OLAP
server 'HQEPPRODFIL01'.
Step Error code: 800A00CA
Step Error Help File:
Step Error Help Context ID:1000202

Once this error appears the OLAP server will no longer
accept any connections until the server is rebooted.

Can anyone provide any more information on what this error
means, why it appears and any fixes to the issue?

Rolf,
I would check whether all clients have updated to
Ptsfull. AS might have a problem with that.

PTSFull is a setup program that installs client-side Pivot
Table Services and MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components).
The latest version (as far as I know) is included with SQL
2000 SP3 for Analysis Services, in the
sql2kspp3\OLAP\Install\PTS folder (assuming you accepted
the default option when you unzipped SP3).
There is another program, PTSlite, that only installs PTS.
This client should work with SQL 7 Olap Server.
