Default Cannot clear query log or use usage based optimization - 01-20-2006 , 12:16 PM

Hello,

I'm running AS2000/SQL Server 2000 on windows 2000 server SP4. When I try
to clear the query log I get a popup error message that says:

Run-time error '3704':
Operation is not allowed when the object is closed.

Then when I click OK on the error message, all of my analysis service
server icons disappear from the analysis service manager object tree and I
have to close/reopen the manager to see them again.

I've tried restarting my AS service and this does not help.

Additionally, when I try to use usage based optimization with this
particular AS database, I get to the point where I want to add the new
aggregations based on what I select in the usage based opt. wizard and I get
an error that reads:

Error occurred while setting goal queries:
Mismatching number of dimensions in data set '1241311121111111'

Please help, brian parker

Hi Brian,

Try to clear the table QueryLog direct in Access.
Query log is in the msmdqlog.mdb access data base.

Thanks vladimir...I was able to clear my query log by editing the mdb
directly. When I go back and try to clear the log again through the
analyisis
manager, I still get the object closed error previously mentioned in this
thread...so I assume that maybe my analysis services install is somehow
corrupted. But with your good suggestion, I was able to clear bad entries
out of the query log, rerun my slow queries, and then add specific
aggregations via the normal usage based optimization route. Thanks again!
