Default Can a Cube be created from a Cube? - 11-06-2003 , 11:32 AM

Can a MOLAP cube be used to create another MOLAP cube? For
instance, if I have a cube with a Time grain of DAY, can I
build a cube with a MONTHLY Time grain without touching
the relational source tables?

Thanks,

Yes, you can create a virtual cube and hide the day level.

Yes, but that requires keeping the detail in the original
cube. What if I no longer need the daily detail and want
to save on storage by collapsing the daily totals into
months - do I still need the source tables or can I build
a new physical monthly cube from the daily cube?

Thanks,
