Default CALCULATED CELL/NOT AVAILABLE ON SQL 2000 AS - 12-16-2005 , 11:04 AM

Hi,
I was recently told about a feature called Calculated Cell and
unfortunately, I am unable to see this feature on my version of SQL Server
2000. Is there way I can verify which version I have or do I need to set a
parameter for this feature to be available.

Regards,
Fernando Sanchez

Hi Fernando,

Calculated cells were not available in AS 2000 Standard Edition, but are
added in AS 2005 Standard Edition:

The 2 options that come to mind are:

- For AS 2000, you can wrap it in a calculated measure, but then
drillthrough on the measure won't be possible.

- Upgrade to AS 2005 Standard Edition (release date Nov.7), which
supposedly supports calculated cells:

Analysis Services 2005 Editions differentiation
..
In case of Analysis Services, you will immediattely see, that cell
calculations, that were only part of Enterprise Edition in AS2K, now are
available in all editions.

Hi Deepak,
Thanks for the info...I am in the process of getting the upgrade version
(evaluation) until it is actually purchased.

I do appreciate the info and the guidance.
