Default Business Objects 5.1.7 and Analysis Server 2000 - 07-07-2003 , 04:01 AM

Hi there,

when I do install BO 5.1.7 out of the box on a Win XP client I always
run into errors. After applying ptsfull.exe it works. Now my question,
is something missing on WinXP, or is BO just to stupid to include the
proper versions of the msolap.dll ?

best regards
andreas

Thanx for your feedback, I saw that BO brings OLAP drivers, however they
look outdated to me. I'm more than unhappy with their antique
installation routine, and I think they should include the current
drivers for OLAP (8.0). (The client does have the licence for OLAP
connection to MS Analysis Server). What I'm looking for
is a confirmation of my guess.

I think it can't be having a OLAP Reporting Software from
a 3rd party software company that promises access to
Analysis Server not having the necessary drivers included.
Is my understanding wrong ?

best regards

Andreas,

have a look at BO V6... The setup is now quite clean...

Drivers included in a 3rd party software are nearly allways outdated...
That's a problem for setting everything up, but that's life... Even when you
install a Microsoft Office you can't be sure that it has the best SQL Server
drivers with it... Drivers change to often...

The OLAP driver is not installed by BO
So you must install the PTSLite/Full.exe before (or after) the
installation
of BO

It's like the SQL Server/Oracle/DB2 etc... client's drivers
