Default BI Portal - Offline Mode - 11-06-2003 , 05:11 PM

Hi,

I am trying to get offline mode to work in BI Portal.

The documentation says that the local cube file should be under the "cubes"
BI Portal folder and that the generation of the cube files must be performed
by an administrator and gives a naming convention for those local cubes.

1. I am not sure how to create those local cubes (From Excel or MDX Sample
application ???)

2. Without having created the local cubes, I tried sync to server (under
tools) and I got an error "Automation Server cannot create object". Normal
since I do not have a local cube ??

3. When I try offline mode, it links me to a BIPDefault.htm page that does
not seem to exist anywhere..

Can anybody help ?

TIA

Jean-Marc

I didn“t find a .cub file generation in the BI Porta
So, I used Excel to create the .cub file, take a look to excel hel
You should create a Pivot table or report in excel with the cube and then if you edit the datasource you can save a .cub fil
If you follow the naming conventions for the cube file the Offline Mode works fine
