Default Averages instead of sums - 03-05-2005 , 06:21 PM

I'm new to Analysis Services and I have 2 questions.
1. How can I change from returning sums of aggregates to returning averages.
I have built a cube that works except that I get sums of the numbers instead
of averages. I've tried building an averages member but I keep I keep on
getting token errors. I have a couple of hours experience with MS OLAP so
please answer VERY simply.
2. I've tried building the same cube that I have built on my local machine
on my server but I keep on getting "can't browse - unspecified error"
messages. Even when I try to build the FoodMart sample I get the same errors.
Is the install bad or what's going on?

Thanks,

DLIE

1. Add a regular measure from an appropriate column of fact table and set
its "Aggregate Function" to "Count". This measure is for Average. If you
want end users not to see it, you also set its "Visible" to "False"

2. Add a Calculated Member whose definition is Sums divided by Counts at
step 1.

And... I guess you'd better install SP3 again.
