Default AS2005: Attribute hierarchy & end user access.... - 02-20-2006 , 03:22 PM

Hi,

I want to give access to my "employee address" through report builder, but I
don't want to create a hierarchy for this attribute!

can I do it?

Currently to see the address attribute in an interface both the
AttributeHierarchyEnabled and the AttributeHierarchyVisible properties must
be set to true.
But the usage of these attributes is for ad-hoc reporting only, during
ad-hoc analysis usage I prefer to hide these attributes because they are
relevant for analysis purpose.
I know that a persective can hide these attributes, but I'm looking for an
option without playing with perspectives.

my developpers use VS and can type the MDX statement, in this case they can
access this "hidden" attribute, but "standard users" don't know how to write
MDX queries.

thanks

Jerome.

But one could ask what is th epurpose of hiding the attribute if you want
users to access it?
Setting Attribute hierarchyvisible = true is just saying that you want to
make the attribute avilable to the users. AN attirbute hierarhcy is just s
ingle levle attribute, it just does what you want, make it available to users
for browsing and reporting on it

maybe I have missed something, because I have tried this option without
success.
