Default AS2000 Calculated Member Excel PIA Errors - 07-12-2006 , 09:51 AM

Hi All,

I am currently trying to resolve an issue that seems to be related to
the .Net Programmability support for Excel (i.e. VSTO) colliding with
Analysis Services. I have an Analysis Services 2000 cube with
Calculated Members that use Excel's Percentile function.

When Excel is installed with .Net Programmability, Calculated Members
are not able to use Excel functions.

Anyone out there run into this?

Thanks,

Jason

Jason - I ran into the same problem. It's a bug in AS2000.

Quote:
From what I can tell, installing VS for Office or O2003PIA creates the
problem.

I've found 3 workarounds.

1. Uninstall the primary interop assembly.
2. Uninstall Excel and then reinstall without using any custom
installs.
3. I now use 2 computers, one with O2003PIA installed and one without.
I've used both RDesktop and Virtual PC to make it easier.

Hope someone else has a better solution.

Walden
