Default Announcing availability of the Microsoft XMLA SDK version 1.1 and of ADOMD.Net (Beta) - 07-31-2003 , 06:07 PM

Beta versions of the Microsoft XMLA SDK 1.1, and of Adomd.Net are now
available for download.

They can be found at the following URLs:
Adomd.Net:
http://microsoft.com/downloads/detai...681E-465E-83C5
-51B7223B1585&displaylang=en

Xmla 1.1. SDK:
http://microsoft.com/downloads/detai...604B-4343-9D42
-4298E10A1A56&displaylang=en

These are public betas and anybody may participate by downloading the
software.

Adomd.Net requires XMLA level 1.1, so in order to use the Adomd.Net beta,
one must also use the Xmla 1.1 beta. The reverse is not true, Xmla SDK can
be used indpendently of Adomd.Net, as desired.

Compatibility notes.

a.. There are breaking changes between Xmla 1.0 and 1.1, so anybody making
that change should expect to have to make changes to code (see the XMLA
Specification at http://xmla.org).
b.. Microsoft's "Yukon" SQL Server release is planned to be Xmla 1.1
compliant. Applications developed now against Xmla SDK 1.1, should work
with Yukon as well.
c.. Adomd.Net is "very similar" to ADOMD, but not 100% code compatible.
So, there should be expectation that some ADOMD code will need to be changed
to convert to Adomd.Net. Applications developed now with Adomd.Net (which
itself uses Xmla 1.1, as stated above) are therefore expected to be
compatible with Yukon when it releases.
Thanks

Tom
