Default Analysis Services Security issue on NT4 Domain Controller - 07-22-2004 , 04:19 PM

Hi,
I have installed Analysis Services on a NT4 Domain Controller (it was only server available!) The result is that all users now appear to have Administrator priviliges on Analysis Services. Even more confusing, the 'OLAP Administrators' Group does not appear to have been created at all!
Has anybody seen this before? Any solutions?

From an earlier post to this newsgroup just a few hours ago :-)
I think the topic then was around installing AS on a cluster which *also*
was a domain controller. :-)

But here goes . . .

Running Analysis Services on a domain controller has issues with it. You
might want to look at these two KB articles:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;826310
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=273836

Dave,
thaks for your reply. I have had a look at the two articles, but they do not help. THe problem as I can see it is not about the fact that the 'OLAP Administrators' group is a global group. Rather, this group does not exist, and all users have administrative rights. I also came across http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=273836
which refers to similar symptoms for OLAP 7 on Win2K. Is there something similar to be done with registry settings for AS2K on NT4?

Q273836 also states that it applies to Analysis Services -- and thus by
definition SQL Server 2000.
