Default [Analysis Services] Register server - 08-04-2003 , 06:50 AM

Hi

I have a problem, when I try to register an Analysis Server on my
workstation. The server I am trying to register resides on a a Windows NT
4.0 server with SQL Server 2000 SP3 + Analysis Services 2000 SP3. The server
is a member of a domain administered by a Windows 2000 Server.

My user account is a member of a local group on the server called "OLAP
Administrators". However, since this group was not automatically created
when I installed Analysis Services, I had to create it manually afterwards.
I have not granted any special priviliges to this group, though. That might
be the problem, but I cannot find any information anywhere on what rights
this group should have. Can you help me?

Thanks in advance...

Hi!

I'm not sure it this hint will solve your problem but you
should try it anyway.

Check the folder 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis
Services\Bin' (or similar), it should be shared as
MsOLAPRepository$. Here is located the repository
database (an Access database) which holds the AS cubes
metadata. Give Read + Write permissions to OLAP
Administrators group on this share.

I hope this will help...

Good luck!
