Default Analysis Services on a Mirror db? - 12-18-2006 , 04:21 AM

I have been asked to set up a SQL Server 2005 mirror environment for the
first time, which will be straightforward (fingers crosed!). However, I've
been asked to install Analysis Services on the box that will host the
mirrored database. The plan is to run AS directly against the mirror.

I'm quite new to SQL Server but my belief is that Mirror databases are
inaccessible and we would need to take a snapshot for AS to use. Snapshot
needs Enterprise licensing and we have only Standard Edition.

Apps team are aware of the 'official' restriction but say in fact AS can
access the mirror db directly. My guess is they are probably correct but I
have yet to test it.

My concerns are (a) will it work and (b) is it a supported implementation?

Hoping for some comments and advice, please.

Regards...
