Default Analysis Services doesn't work - 03-17-2005 , 10:21 AM

Hello
I have installed SQL Server 2000 (Personal Edition) and Analysis
Services on a Windows XP SP 2 Machine. Also I installed SP 3.
Installed MDAC 2.8SP1

Now my Problem:
SQL Server runs without Problems. But when I try to connect an
Analysis Server always an error occurs (double click on Analysis
Manager -> double click on the registered Server --> then the error
occurs).

Error Message:
"Class doesn't support automation or the expected device is not
supported".
The error message may be not 100 per cent correct, because I use
Analysis Services in German.

Is there anybody who has a solution for me ? :-)
Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you sure that SQL Server 2000 (Personal Edition) can support AS?
Could it need SQL Server Agent?

Thanks, but SQL Agent is not necessary. On a different Computer with
XP, I have SQL Server Personal Edition and AS installed, and it runs
without problems.
